I don’t care about the position of Mercury in my natal chart. I think Mercury is in a good position in my birth chart. Besides this: I know I am smart.
In the worst case scenario, if your Mercury is in a bad position in your birth chart, the talisman of Mercury will not help you. But it will not harm you.

In my magick with the spirits of Mercury (like Ophiel and Haagenti), I use the correspondences of Hod. You can use other items too:
dolls of yourself, powders (commanding powder), petitions, honey, herbs, soil from graves of lawyers and bankers, images of books, jewellery, etc.
In my magick with the spirits of Mercury, I use the following correspondences of Hod:
Ruling planet: Mercury
Day: Wednesday
Astrological hour: Mercury
Paper seal colour: orange
Plant: Orchid
Fruits: oranges (my own choice)
Vegetables: pumpkin (my own choice)
The best day to do magick with the talisman of Mercury, Ophiel and Haagenti is a Wednesday. You can fine tune your magick by doing it during the astrological hour of Mercury.
I have astrological charts for each year to choose the best day for magic. I compose them myself.

money powder (2 parts cinnamon: 1 part nutmeg)
wrapping paper and tape

Summon Haagenti, Ophiel, Tiriel and Taphthartharath. Offer these spirits some gifts and read your petition. Light the candle.
Paint your paper doll with honey and cover it with the money powder. Speak your spell 3 times over the paper doll. Wrap the paper doll into the seals of the spirits and then into wrapping paper.
Secure this small package with tape. You will obtain clarity, because these spirits fight confusion.
